Welcome to Jin Xing



Jin Xing (Chinese meaning: Venus) is a Chinese ballerina, modern dancer, choreographer, and owner of the contemporary dance company "Shanghai Jin Xing Dance Theater". She is also an actress and talking show host.

Jin Xing was born in an ethic Korean family on August 13th, 1967 in Shenyang, China. Her mother languages are Korean and Chinese.

At the age of nine, She joined the People's Liberation Army and became a member of the military's dance troupe.
 
At the age of 17, Jin Xing won the Champion of the national dance contest Taoli Cup and the best acting prize at the Nationwide Second Annual Dancing Contest. At the age of 20, she went to New York to study modern dance with the scholarship from the Asian Ca Ltare Counsel of America and American Dance Festival. She is the first Chinese dancer who got the scholarship from Asian Pacific Art Institute of America.
 
In 1984, she graduated from People's Liberation Army Art College Dance Department and attained the rank of colonel. 

In 1991, she was invited to be the choreographer of the American Dance Festival and won the best choreography prize with Banmeng (English: Half Dream). At the same year, she moved to Europe.
 
From 1989 to 1990, she has her own choreography show in Seoul, Korea and became a member of American Dance Festival International choreographing group.

In 1991, she was hired to be the chief choreographer of American Dance Festival and got the best annual choreography prize. She then was invited to choreography at the Italy TV channel One.

In 1992, she started Bai Feng (English: White Wind) in Belgium and held her own choreography show twice.
 
After a world tour, Jin Xing returned China in 1994. Then she was hired by the Art Department of China to start training nationwide modern dance dancers.
 
In 1995, she got the gender-reassignment surgery. 
 
In 1996, Jin Xing started Beijing Modern Dance organization with Beijing City Art Office and became Art Director. Then She successfully held modern dance show "Red and Black", "Sunflower", and "Drunken Concubine".
 
In 1998, the modern dance "Red and Black" won the Wenhua Prize by the Art Department.
 
In 1999, she started Shanghai Jin Xing Dance Theater.
 
In 2000, she moved to Shanghai, China.  
 
In 2001, she danced "Forever Present" with European dancers. On the Marcao International Music Festival, she danced for the song "Song of Temple Brown".
 
In 2003, She performed "Shanghai Tango" in China.
 
In 2004, her dance "Shanghai Tango " was danced in Europe. After that, she started to be well known by the public.

Currently, Jin Xing lives with her German husband and three adopted children in Shanghai, China. In order to support her dance theatre financially, she becomes talking show host. She still dances on the stage.

  2. By looking at her background and life experience, I think she is really a super ‘women’. Won the champion when he was a boy, and been top of the rank in school. And she is not afraid of any challenge.
